MISFIT is a multi-layered, time-bending novel that integrates ancient mysticism, advanced technology, and the exploration of identity. The narrative centres on Mabu, a mysterious protagonist who unexpectedly arrives in the Binju civilization in 699 AD, a secluded and influential society deeply connected to both nature and magic. As Mabu adapts to their culture, she uncovers the dangers associated with the 'Soul Stone, ' a mystical artifact capable of both sustaining and destroying life, human and that of nature. Through the pursuit of forbidden knowledge and transformative encounters, Mabu becomes entangled in a destiny that transcends centuries. The storyline shifts to 4300 AD, where Kuzo, an accomplished young individual from Ankora, one of Africa's most advanced nations in the distant future, seeks to uncover the truth about his mother, Maiandra. His investigation reveals profound secrets regarding their ancestry, the Soul Stone, and the entwined destinies of time travelers and ancient warriors. While confronting present-day adversaries, Kuzo is troubled by unresolved echoes of the past. Meanwhile, across different eras such as 1307 (the time of the Templars in King Phillips reign to World War II in 1948 and then to 2019, the heritage of the Binju civilization endures through successive generations, each striving to reconstruct the fragments of a concealed history. Misfit combines elements of African mythology, futuristic science, and a historical narrative that offers a nuanced examination of fate, power, and the timeless conflict between those determined to safeguard knowledge and those whose intent is to exploit it.
