This book is based on the author's 1971 diary recording and capturing day to day family and school life in Edinburgh. Like all good diaries the extracts do not just record events, interesting as they may be, but also the young diarist's observations, thoughts, responses and reactions to the events to which he is party and the individuals with whom he interacts. The book was previously released as An Edinburgh Boyhood, but written in a mix of Scots and English; this volume is in English.
