During the Viet Nam war, a farm boy from Ohio enters the army. He is offered an opportunity to become a helicopter pilot. In flight school he meets Jerry, who becomes a friend and training partner. When they arrive in Viet Nam they meet again, flying from the same heliport. Dennis is flying a Cobra Gunship, and Jerry is a Medivac pilot, rescuing the injured.
