大学を中退して4年目の佐藤達広は、ひきこもりとなっていた。佐藤は、自分が大学を辞め、無職でひきこもりであることなど全てが、謎の巨大組織の陰謀であると妄想する。その組織の名はNHK（日本ひきこもり協会）。そんな折、中原岬と名乗る謎の美少女が佐藤の前に現れる。佐藤をひきこもりから脱却させるべく、岬は「プロジェクト」の遂行を宣言。その「プロジェクト」の目的が不明のまま、岬による佐藤のカウンセリングが始まる。

This slice-of-life goes to extremes to tell an interesting story and gives more depth to its small cast than most. The English voice acting is good, the art style is consistent, and the background music calls to an earlier period. It's aged pretty well and is likely more relatable now, which is sad. It deals with some very heavy topics with the right blend of seriousness and comedy. You'll get more than you expected if you stay the course. My one criticism would be its uneven pacing, but there's a chance that was by design and adds to the experience.
