Expect something close to the new Interview. It is strangely over-woke. As where the Interview was a story about two Gay men that when adapted for a modern audience left out all subtlety and story that made the novels so compelling, Mayfair does with same with feminism. It starts of a little like the novels, the same family, the same feminine power, but it quickly removes all femininity from the Mayfair witches. And then it removes all real story from the Mayfair Witches. And then it removes all plot from the Mayfair witches. And like all wokeness it breaks itself down to just the message and then screams it in your face as loud as it can. Don't expect the chilling and romantic Southern Gothic tale of witches and demons. Don't even expect a feminine take on feminism, it's 2023, that messaging was over about two decades ago. instead just expect "THE MESSAGE" screamed as loud as humanly possible as long as humanly possible while the mouth breathing critics give it high praise.
I have seen both first and second season and I have never read the book. Well, from the TV show which is about witches I expected it to be scary or at least dark. I have seen plenty of TV shows about witches. Salem was the best by the way - properly and well done show about witches. It was dark and it was interesting. This? Neither it's dark or interesting. After watching whole two seasons, I still don't understand what's the story of this TV show. I mean, the only thing is going on there is that there are some witches and that there's some "powerful" demon-like entity they worship and admire which gets born in a world and transforms as a human and that's it and it took 2 seasons for this plot. That's how slow it is. Probably you're thinking it must be at least scary or dark, but this show lacks even those aspects. And this demon-like entity isn't scary at all, more like some confused someone, then turns out he's not even demon-like but more like a saint. Acting from actors is good, but if there is no story nothing can help the show. In short, it's quite boring. It's watchable, but everyday I watched episodes I wanted to end it quickly, so I could forget about it. Even teenager based shows about witches (The Circle, Shadowhunters...) were more interesting than this show. At least something was happening in those shows. Here? Nothing much. And there has been so much better shows than this that has been canceled (Damien, The OA...)...
