アメリカの防衛システム「プロメテウス」を開発したグレイマン博士が、ブラック・リヴァーという組織に襲われた。そのデータを託されたのは高性能人工知能を搭載したスペシャルカーKNIGHT3000、通称KITT(キット)。KITTは襲撃の危機が迫る博士の娘・サラの元へと急行、間一髪のところで彼女を救出する。また、KITTは博士によってある人物に助けを求めに行くようにもプログラムされていた。それはマイケル・ナイトの息子であるマイク・トレーサーだった―。今、陰謀と犯罪がうごめく世界で、命がけの極秘ミッションが始まる!
