Combust!

Part 2 of the TBD movie and it's soooo much better than the first one! Compared to Sleep Study (admittedly somehow charming still) this one was a massive improvement in every aspect. The characters, the plot, the shots, while amateurish nonetheless, so enjoyable. The cannibal gang stole (and ate) my heart. And so did the rural areas shown throughout the whole film. This film made me realize I quite enjoy the 'taboo' kind of violence in movies. Despite its concise runtime, it crosses many boundaries most movies wouldn't dare to. I think I want to see more pregnant women getting stabbed repeatedly in the stomach (the balloon popping sounds are optional...) One thing I have to be negative about is the soundtrack. Whoever was in charge of audio design...do a better job! The grating, 8-bit like grim synthwave with the most basic beat ever gets unbearable after two minutes. And I had to sit through twenty! If I remember correctly, I didn't mention it in my Sleep Study review but it was the same thing there. I can excuse it in Sleep Study, because the synth actually worked there pretty well but here...maybe not. I omitted the fact that the soundtrack sounds also sounds like it was made by someone with zero experience who opened FL for the first time. Also, didn't expect a cliffhanger at all. I'd say this movie did a good job at making me laugh, stressing me out and surprising me. Rest in peace, Robert 'Geez' Gray Eubanks 🕊️
